? is to EMH or not to EMH? Maximize using park hopper? Rope drop or no? going in September with DH, DDs 11,13. I'm a plan every detail type of person, can't wait for the sept calendar, i've been creating and amending the itinerary for a month.

Hi Lori!  It's nice to meet another detail person!

September tends to be a less busy time in the parks although with the great specials Disney is offering you never know so it is best to plan like there will be many people then to be surprised and disappointed once you arrive.

I love the Extra Magic Hours in the parks.  I will admit it is not easy to make the early morning ones with my family...we end up getting there just a few minutes before the regular opening time and thus missed out on some of the attractions with no lines.  But we love the evening hours.  I love being in the parks at night and discovering the magic that can only be seen when the sun goes down.  You will still have lines but they will be much shorter.  When we do take advantage of the late park hours we are sure to have down time in the afternoon so we can rest and be able to stay as late as we want.  Then I also don't plan anything for early the next day.

I am one that doesn't have to be first in line (although when the kids were younger they often were) but I do like to be at the parks for rope drop or just after.  The one park that I definitely think it pays to be early is Animal Kingdom.  About 15 minutes before the official opening time you will be led down the long path to stand in front of the Tree of Life where Mickey leads a short show.  The Magic Kingdom also has a short show with Mickey and friends and if you are not there for these things you have missed a great memory!

I definitely love the park hopper option. For instance we love to go between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios via the water taxis on the same day.  I love Illuminations and after a day in the Studios I will insist the family heads to EPCOT so I can get yet another dose of that beautiful show.  Without the park hopper passes you just don't have the flexibility that I so enjoy for my vacations at Disney.

September will be here before you know it.....calendars should be out in June!
