Hello, Mary!
I really enjoy staying at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and I think you'll really like it too. It's got such a great laid-back atmosphere, just what you'll need after a long day at the parks. If you're planning on spending a day at the resort, maybe consider renting a
surrey bike or taking a
horse-drawn carriage along the banks of the Sassagoula River. I've done both and they are super fun.
At Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, you'll find elevators only in the Magnolia Bend Mansion Buildings. This is a beautiful area to stay in. The building are 3 story, which is why I suppose you can find elevators here and not at the other areas of the resort which are only 2 story buildings. In this section, I'd request to stay in either the Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace. These are going to be the closest to Ol' Man Island, the old-fashioned swimmin' hole with a sawmill slide, hot tub and pool-side bar. This is also where the nightly campfire will take place, which I highly recommend. You'll also be very close, via a bridge, to the Riverside Mill Food Court which serves up breakfast lunch and dinner and
Boatwright's Dining Hall. If you are looking to enjoy some evening entertainment, stop by the
River Roost and listen to the sounds of cabaret performer. YeHaa Bob - I promise you won't regret it!
I hope this helps!
