Hi Leanne,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I grew up watching Walt Disney World parades; my family watched the Easter and Christmas Day parades every year, and I dreamed of wearing one of those amazing costumes and performing those dance moves. I still get happy tears every time I watch a Walt Disney World parade, and it makes my heart so happy to see my children filled with that same wonder.
There are currently two fantastic
parades at Magic Kingdom Park: the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and the Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! Street Party. I LOVE THEM BOTH! Taking in the magical details, waving like crazy to beloved characters, and jamming along to the music is one of my family’s favorite things to do. Pick up a Times Guide when you enter the park so you can be sure to see each one.
Leanne, the Main Street Electrical Parade was an iconic parade that rolled through both Walt Disney World and Disneyland during its long run in the theme parks. So many of us were sad to hear the news that it was leaving Walt Disney World several years ago to return home to Disneyland, and we’re all hoping for a new nighttime parade to roll down Main Street, U.S.A. soon.
I have some good news, though, Leanne! If you’re looking for an electronic groove and spectacular light show, you’re going to love the
Electrical Water Pageant. This funky show makes it way through the waters of the Seven Seas Lagoon most nights, and you can view it from several locations around the lagoon. My personal favorite viewing area is the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where I can grab a Dole Whip before settling into the sand to watch the light show.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
