Hiya, Liesl! Welcome to planDisney!
I'm so excited to hear that you're making plans to visit
Walt Disney World Resort in January! To me, there's no better way to ring in the new year than a trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth. You'll be able to enjoy the
EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, opening on January 13, which will include creative art galleries, live performances, and of course – delicious food! With so much to see and do, you're in for an extra special trip.
Leisl, this is a great question! You are correct – while Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs), strollers, and wheelchairs are welcome at Walt Disney World Resort, scooters are on the list of
prohibited items. I reached out to a Cast Member about your specific question and they confirmed that, even with a seat attachment, your device would still be considered an electric kick scooter. The recommendation would be to rent an ECV for your upcoming trip.
When visiting with my parents earlier this year, my mom took advantage of a rental option and was able to enjoy everything that Walt Disney World Resort had to offer without missing a minute of the magic!
Walt Disney World Resort offers ECVs for daily rentals; however, you could also reserve an ECV through a private rental company if you're looking for a length-of-stay rental. For example, ScooterBug is the Disney Featured Provider and I know many Guests have enjoyed their rental with this company. There are also many other options in the area, such as Gold Mobility Scooters (which we used earlier this year and had an excellent experience with). Whichever direction you choose, you'll have a variety of options at your fingertips that will be just right for you!
I'd also suggest taking a moment to check out the
services for Guests with mobility disabilities. With assistance for attractions and transportation, this is a great resource to refer to throughout your trip! While you're putting the finishing touches of pixie dust on your vacation, don't forget to also make your theme park reservations with the
Disney Park Pass system. This is an important step to reserve the parks you'd like to visit on each day of your trip. And if you have any other questions, please visit us again – after all, you've got a friend in me!
See ya real soon!
