Hey there, Hi there, Alexandra! You’re as welcome as can be at the Disney Parks Moms Panel and I’m excited to hEAR you’re planning a fun-tastic vacation to
Walt Disney World Resort!
The
Minnie Van Service is one of the most whimsical ways to get around The Most Magical Place on Earth, and it now transports Guests to and from the Orlando International Airport! My family and I get excited every single time we get to use the service because the Cast Members always treat us like family.
I have great news for you, Alexandra! There are Minnie Vans that are electric conveyance vehicles (ECV) accessible; however, rather than going through the Lyft app, you will have to call a Minnie Van Service Specialist at (407) 828-3500 to request an accessible vehicle. If you are already at your Walt Disney World
Resort hotel, you can also make arrangements for pick up and drop off at the front desk. According to the Minnie Van Service, “Requests can be made 45 to 60 minutes prior to needing the vehicle. Minnie Van vehicles can accommodate Guests with standard wheelchairs, motorized vehicles and electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs); however, an additional wait time may occur.” A friend of mine told me he had the option of stowing the ECV or sitting in it with the Minnie Van seatbelt fastened, which was great!
Alexandra, here is a great guide that shows
Attraction Access Categories for Guests with mobility disabilities. It will give you information on whether or not you need to transfer from your ECV to a ride vehicle on
Attractions at the
Theme Parks. For instance, when I look at Star Tours - The Adventures Continue, it states, “Mobility Access: See a Cast Member for Transfer Access Seat and transfer information.” Walt Disney World Resort provides many services for
Guests with Disabilities, and do a wonderful job of being inclusive. Here's to having the most magical vacation!
I hope you have the most bow-tiful time while rockin’ the dots, Alexandra!
Aena
