We have eaten at Mickey's Backyard BBQ and did not do the event associated with it. Now when trying to book the meal it will not let me do it without using 2 meal credits and doing the event. Is there anyway to just do the buffet without the event

    Hi Sandy!

2019 is going to be a great year to visit Walt Disney World Resort. Not only can you Play Big in Andy's Backyard or visit Pandora - The World of Avatar, there are so many exciting entertainment options opening at the beginning of the year!

Currently, Mickey's Backyard BBQ does require two Disney Dining Plan Table-Service meal entitlements, regardless if you say for the entire program or if you duck out early. Interestingly enough, this beloved Dinner Show is actually not scheduled for any dates after December of this year as it's only hosted seasonally due to its dining area being completely outside.

While this specific reservation may not be available during your Disney Days, I do have some terrific barbecue alternatives, like my favorite, Trail's End Restaurant. This indoor Disney Dining Plan 1-Table-Service entitlement buffet is located near Mickey's Backyard BBQ, and also hosts a really amazing weekend brunch. Whispering Canyon Cafe features a neat all-you-care-to-enjoy skillet, along with a refillable Milkshake, and the servers offer up some zany antics while you dine. The Polite Pig packs a lot of food and value in exchange for one quick-service dining entitlement. Flame Tree BBQ has awesome snack credit options. And if you were interested in another dinner show, my absolute favorite is Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.

I hope this helped in planning your Disney Days, Sandy, and We'll See You in 2019!
