can you eat at a disney resort restaurant if you are not staying at that resort?

    Welcome to planDisney, Burgundy!

It's not long now until your trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth. On a scale of 1-10, what's your excitement level right now? Let me guess: 100!!! You're going to absolutely love all the EARidescent excitement on offer for the 50th Anniversary Celebration. Make sure you enjoy the Beacons of Magic displays in each of the four Theme Parks. Each one is uniquely enchanting, but my favorite one is Spaceship Earth in EPCOT.

But as Winnie the Pooh once said, "What could be more important than a little something to eat?" Enjoying a meal at one of the amazing Disney restaurants is always a highlight of my trips. You'll be pleased to know that you're free to make a reservation at one of the Disney Resorts Collection hotel restaurants, even if you're not staying at the hotel. I've done this many times. In fact, the last time my wife and I went to Walt Disney World together, we made a reservation for California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort, even though we were staying off property. We had a truly fabulous meal!

Some of my favorite Disney Resort restaurants (besides California Grill) are Cítricos, Jiko – The Cooking Place, Saana, Narcoosee’s, Steakhouse 71, and Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera.

If you can't get reservations for the restaurant you won't, don't panic. One of the fantastic features of the My Disney Experience Mobile App is the ability to make walk-up dining reservations at select restaurants. Here's how you use this feature:

    - Find a participating restaurant and make sure you're in close proximity.
    - Open your My Disney Experience app.
    - Click on "Check Dining Availability," select the size of your party, select the date, and then select "Now" under "Search by Time."
    - You should be able to view the estimated wait time for your restaurant.
    - Once you are added to the standby list, you'll be notified when your table is ready.

Bon appetite! I hope that's helpful, Burgundy. Have a wonderful trip!
