How easy is it to get a cab from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Mickeys Backyard BBQ? Party is a 2 yr old, two 1 yr olds,2 adults. I don't think we would make it on time without direct transportation. Any idea of cab rate? What time we'd need to leave?

    Hi Jacqueline!

Making tight timing for reservations can be difficult as Walt Disney World is so spread out and covers many miles. Planning ahead for your transportation needs is important so you are on track for getting there on time.

It is very easy to get a taxi from the Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Fort Wilderness Campground. head out to the entrance and ask the valet desk that you need a taxi. If one is not already there they will call one and usually it is just minutes for a wait. When you let your driver know that you will want to go to Fort Wilderness emphasize that it is NOT the Wilderness Lodge. We have seen this happen ourselves when we needed to go to one and ended up at the other.

It is about a 15-20 minute drive to the front of the Fort Wilderness Resort. Mickey's Backyard Barbecue is located at the other end of the resort and you will need to take the internal bus transportation to reach this site. Taxis are not allowed to go beyond the front entrance area but they will drop you off at the bus depot. Let the bus driver know your destination and they will tell you the right place to get off the bus.

Once you are off you will have a short walk to the entrance of the dinner. It will be just past the Pioneer Hall and Trails End building. Get there as early as possible if you can to enjoy the character meet and greets that they offer before the dinner begins.

I love this dinner show and love the live entertainment. Give yourself no less then a hour for transportation since you might have traffic on the roads and might have to wait on a bus. Have a wonderful evening!
