7N Eastern Caribbean in May. Traveling with father who will need wheelchair assistance. Should we have a scooter ordered to his room or use wheelchairs? Where do you get the limited sand wheelchairs for Castaway Cay?

    Ahoy Angie!
You have a great question about which option would work best for your father.  On my past sailings, I have seen Guests using both wheelchairs and scooters, and the ship is quite user-friendly to either option.  I'm not sure if he has booked an accessible stateroom, but if not, a wheelchair might be a better option because of storage.  If he does have an accessible stateroom, they are very spacious and accommodating and will offer plenty of storage for either piece of equipment.  The sand wheelchairs on Castaway Cay are located at the first tram stop near Scuttle's Cove.  I don't think you will have a problem getting one once you are dropped off.
Disney Cruise Line does not have wheelchairs or scooters onboard so you will need to order your equipment from Brevard Medical Equipment which will deliver and pick up from the ship.  You can check out their cruise rentals by visiting their website at or calling toll-free (888) 906-8160 or direct (321) 453-3370.
I hope my answer helps with your planning, Angie!  Please keep me posted as you think of other cruise questions.  I'm always happy to help!
    Have a wonderful day!
