What is easiest way to get from Fort Wilderness to Chef Mickeys at Contemporary?

    Hi Deborah!

Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney! For my family, the complimentary transportation options at Walt Disney World Resort are considered additional attractions. I have young kids, so any vehicle is exciting, but especially the Disney-themed ones.

At this time, to travel from Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you can take either a bus or a watercraft. Either option will drop you off at Magic Kingdom Park and then you can walk or take the monorail to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It is recommended that you allow 90 minutes for transportation around Walt Disney World Resort.

As I said earlier, all methods of transportation are a highlight for my kids, so we really enjoy the walk to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. We love to look at the buses driving by as they pick up and drop off guests, and we also watch the monorail as it passes overhead. You might also hear the Walt Disney World Railroad as it approaches the Main Street, U.S.A. station.

A quicker option may be to request a Minnie Van through the Lyft app. These vehicles can seat up to 5 guests total, and each vehicle carries car seats if you need them. The price of a Minnie Van varies based on the distance traveled, but you’ll see the cost in the Lyft app before you complete your request.

Here’s a bonus tip, Deborah. No matter which method of transportation you take, ask the Cast Member for a transportation card. These are small cards that feature an image of the mode of transportation and a few facts on the back side. Not every transportation operator will carry these cards, but I had a lot of fun on my last solo trip trying to collect them all as I used transportation throughout my trip.

I hope this helps you consider your options, Deborah. Enjoy your visit to Walt Disney World and your meal at Chef Mickey’s! If you have any future questions as you continue to plan for your upcoming vacation, come back and see me at planDisney
