Hi there, Laurel!
Thanks for visiting planDisney with your question - I'm happy to help!
While a perfect Walt Disney World Resort vacation would include every attraction, show, and venue open and ready, from time to time
refurbishments are necessary to keep the theme parks and attractions updated and safe for Guests to enjoy. Routine maintenance and safety checks are cause for short amounts of downtime, while reimagining of attractions or venues would call for longer closure time. While these updates are typically staggered to prevent overlapping ride closures, sometimes it is necessary to have refurbishments happening simultaneously. At this time, there are also several offerings that have yet to reopen during Walt Disney World's
phased reopening.
It's easy to find a current list of closures by visiting the
Walt Disney World Resort website. If you hover over the "Things to Do" tab, you'll see a list of Activities, including
Attractions,
Character Experiences,
Entertainment,
Events & Tours, and
Enchanting Extras Collection. By selecting any of these titles, you'll be provided with a list of available options in that category. If you scroll to the bottom of the list, you'll see any offerings that are closed or temporarily unavailable.
For more in-depth Walt Disney World refurbishment information, there are several blogs and websites (that can be found with an internet search) that provide estimated dates of reopenings for attractions.
I hope this helps with your planning and preparations for an upcoming visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth. Come back and visit us here at planDisney for tips and advice to make the most of your Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
