Is it easier to drive to the parks to use Disney transportation?

    Hi Carrie:

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  I find that this is really a matter of personal preference.  Personally, I have found that driving to the theme parks doesn't really save time once you factor in parking and walking or taking the tram to the main entrance of the theme parks, so personally I would much prefer using Disney Transportation.  I like that all I need to do is sit down and someone else will take care of the driving while I am on vacation.  Even though I have been to Walt Disney World Resort quite a few times, the area is still unfamiliar to me and I would much rather leave the driving to the professionals instead of attempting to navigate around Walt Disney World Resort Property with everyone else.  I also like the fact that Disney Transportation drops you off right in front of the theme parks and Disney Resorts and there is no need to walk from the parking area (or wait for a tram).  During peak hours, the wait for Disney Transportation may be longer, especially if you are staying at a Disney Resort with multiple bus stops (like Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort or Disney's Caribbean a Beach Resort) where there is a chance buses may be full.  I still find the wait is roughly the same as driving, because during peak hours, the entrance into the parking is longer as well.

With that being said, if you are comfortable with the area and like driving, you may prefer to do so, it just depends on what you and your family prefer.

I hope that helps Carrie.  Please let me know if you have any further questions, I would be happy to assist as you continue to plan your visit to Walt Disney World Resort.
