How early do the park parking lots open prior to park opening? We’re used to taking Disney Transportation to the parks so driving our own car is a whole new world! We’ll be staying at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa.

    Hi Jennifer!

I'm happier than the Genie was when he escaped his lamp to hear that you are heading to the Most Magical Place on Earth! And let me just say that I like the way you think: get that magic carpet (aka your car) parked so you can get in the parks as soon as possible!

Currently, the rule of thumb for arriving at the parking lots is 45 minutes prior to when the parks open. Parking rules are always subject to change, but this time frame gets you there in time to comfortably make it to your desired park for rope drop. You can check park hours here to help calculate your estimated time of departure.

The new Disney Park Pass system enables Guests to make park reservations, so that helps limit the number of Guests that can visit each theme park on any given day. So while being at several of the parks at rope drop is not as necessary as in the past, I would say that it is vital at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Guests hoping to secure that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance boarding group! In this case, you’ll want to be in the park early to snag that reservation using the My Disney Experience app as those reservations go quickly! The virtual queues for this popular attraction open at 10:00 A.M. and  2:00 P.M. daily. Don’t despair if you don’t get one at the earlier virtual queue time as some more may be available in the afternoon.

While this year has felt like a "whole new world" when it comes to the phased reopening of Walt Disney World, one thing remains constant: the magic is still there. So as Aladdin would say to Jasmine, "don't you dare close your eyes" because it will certainly be all around you!

Jennifer, feel free to rub the lamp again because planDisney is here to grant your wish. Hope you have a magical vacation!
