Hello. We have been to DW many times and stay at a different resort each time. Thinking about FW Cabins this tim3 6/26-7/7. Fam of 4 w teens, 15&17. Well have our own car - how important is renting golf carts? Will we regret it fi we dont? Thanks

    Hi Christopher,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  Staying at different Walt Disney World Resort Hotels is a great way to create new memories with your family.  It makes each vacation feel new and fresh, while still enjoying the magic of Disney.

We enjoy staying at The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, it has such a different feel from any of the other Walt Disney World Resort Hotels on property.  The serene views and wildlife are such a change from the Theme Parks.  Personally, one of the best parts of staying at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds were the golf carts.  It was very handy to get around the resort, since it is so large, and made getting to areas where cars aren’t able to go much easier.

Because you have a car, it isn’t actually necessary to rent a golf cart, especially if you are planning to drive to the Theme Parks.  Cars have access to the Cabins and there are main roads that lead to most spots throughout the Resort.  With that being said, there are spots that you will not be able to reach with your car, and it can be a far walk depending on where your cabin is located.  The internal bus is available, but the golf carts are quicker, and way more fun. What we tend to do is use the golf cart around Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, as well as to drive to the boat launch for transportation to Magic Kingdom Park, and drive ourselves to the other Theme Parks.

Either way, you will love staying at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort, Christopher.  Renting a golf cart will just add a little more fun to your vacation.
