Going to DW for 1st time 1/25-2/1. Boys 8 & 11. I am conflicted about ext hours. Should we go to those parks & take advantage of the hours or should we avoid those parks because everyone will be there. Currently we are set to avoid those.

My family is a morning family, so we always take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours (EMH) offered in the morning.  We feel like we get a lot accomplished in that extra hour with little or no waits on the rides.  However, we then often leave the park and hop over to another one mid-day since the crowds do get heavier.

We have found that the evening EMH are typically of no advantage with eliminating crowds and long lines, so we generally skip those.

It is a strategy of many families, however, to avoid the parks that offer EMH, and they find that that works out well for them.  Since it sounds like you have your plans made to avoid those parks, it may be easier to stick with your original plans, especially if you have dining reservations already.  I would still try to arrive at the park before it opens so that you can get into it right away to get an early set of fast passes and still be able to walk onto a few rides.
