Going to DW over Thanksgiving with my 9yo son. Torn betw. Carib. Resort (where we are currently booked) or the POFQ...Also, this late it is almost impossible to get reservations for dinner where we want/at good times. Should I cancel my standard meal plan?

    Hi Suzanne:

You are only getting my opinion, and I acknowledge that others may feel differently, but my view is that Port Orleans French Quarter is a wonderful Resort, my favorite of the moderate Resorts. It's small and picturesque, which makes it very relaxing in my view. Though small, the Resort offers a number of activities. Caribbean Beach Resort is expertly themed also, but has a "bigger" and more of a "bustling" feel for me. Indeed, because the Resort is so large and spread out, you may have to take inner-Resort transportation staying at Caribbean Beach, so I generally only recommend staying there if you have a car. The big advantage Caribbean Beach Resort has is its awesome main pool, featuring a pirate theme and water slides. Your son may really enjoy the pool, but if he can put the pool aside, Port Orleans French Quarter would likely provide a more relaxing vacation spot.  But if you plan to spend time by the pool, you may want to keep your current reservation.

If you feel that you are not able to secure the dining you want at the times you want and may end up finding dining alternatives where you do not using much of your meal plan, then you may find that it would be worth it to cancel the plan.

    Enjoy your vacation.
