Will be going to DW in Sept. We will have our 2 yr old daughter with us & she will need a mid day nap. Would it be worth it to rent a car? Will we have to park way out & hike to the parks? Staying at AS Movies and I have heard the bus is slow fro

    Hi Jennifer,

Your family vacation will be much more enjoyable for everyone if your daughter is able to stick to her normal nap schedule.  I bet the adults in your family would enjoy some rest mid-day too.  If your daughter is not one who can nap successfully in a stroller, then going back to your resort room is your best bet.  She might even enjoy some pool time at the resort after her nap.  There's nothing like a little sleep and swim time to recharge your batteries.

When my son was young, we always rented a car during our Walt Disney World vacations, even when we stayed in a Disney resort.  We wanted to minimize wait times for the Disney buses when he was tired so we did rent a car.  That also allowed us the convenience of stowing the stroller in the trunk instead of having to wrangle it on a crowded bus.

Even if you park fairly far away from the gates at the theme parks, there's a convenient shuttle that will take you back to the row in the parking lot where you parked.  This works well at Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom.  You're better to ride the Disney bus at the Magic Kingdom, however, because the guest parking lot is a monorail or ferry boat ride away from the entrance to this theme park.

If it is within your budget, Jennifer, I think it is a great idea to rent a car for your vacation.  It is wonderfully convenient when you are traveling with a little one.

    Have fun in September!
