Hello, Christine. Thanks for stopping by
planDisney with your question. Long gone are my days pushing a stroller at Walt Disney World but, boy, do I miss it. Having a place to store all of the bags and souvenirs, plus cupholders - it was so nice.
As you mentioned, last year, I also noticed quite a variety of strollers to be found roaming around the
Walt Disney World theme parks. From time to time, however,
rules and regulations do get an update and with that came new guidelines for what strollers would be permitted. Currently, wagons and/or stroller wagons of any size are not allowed within the Walt Disney World theme parks,
water parks or at the
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Strollers now must be within the 31” (79 cm) wide and 52” (132cm) long dimensions to be used. However, most strollers including double strollers do fit into these guidelines. Because rules are always changing, I suggest checking out the
property rules portion of the Walt Disney World website before your vacation just to make sure you have the most up-to-date information possible.
If a stroller wagon is your only option at home, don't go out and buy yourself a new one. Leave it behind and
rent a stroller once at the Walt Disney World theme parks and
Disney Springs. The last few times my daughter sat in a stroller at Walt Disney World we did this and it worked out great! You can rent a stroller on a day-by-day basis or what I recommend doing is going ahead and purchasing a length of stay pass. This is going to save you a little bit of money and a lot of time when you arrive each morning. After the initial purchase, you'll simply show your receipt to the Cast Member working the stroller rental area and off you'll go. To keep track of your stroller, I recommend bringing a ribbon or bandanna from home that will help you easily identify your specific one, since so many look the same. My daughter always enjoyed picking out a special Mickey balloon to tie on to our stroller to help us keep track of it. It worked great and was a special souvenir to take home.
I hope this helps clear up any confusion you may have had regarding the strollers permitted at Walt Disney World right now. If you have any other questions before your trip, I'd love for you to come back and ask me!
