We will be in DW in July for my husbands work conf. and staying at the Grand Floridian. There will be two days during the week that my husband will only be working half the day & we are looking for fun things to do just for the afternoon w/ a 4yr &

Hi, Kate! We've been to several business conferences with our Daddy at the Grand Floridian, and we've loved staying there. I have several suggestions for you!

    1. If you're not staying in the main building, consider requesting the Sago Cay building (first floor, closest to the bus stop). It's also close to the quick-service food area and the convention center.
    2. Contact the Cast Member in charge of the business conference to inquire about discounted park tickets. There are usually discounted multi-day park hoppers as well as after-2 p.m. and after-4 p.m. one-park tickets.
    3. Unless his conference doesn't include any meals, I wouldn't purchase a dining plan. You will save money if he eats meals included in his conference price, and you and your little one share snacks and quick-service meals when Daddy's not around.

As far as what to do with Daddy for a free afternoon (outside the parks):

    • Rent a pontoon boat or Sea Raycers and cruise the Seven Seas Lagoon. Have an early dinner with Cinderella and the Prince at 1900 Park Fare -- make sure you make a reservation!
    • Tour the other resorts by hopping on the monorail. You can have an early character dinner at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary or a family dinner at 'Ohana's at the Polynesian.
    • Take a bus to Downtown Disney to enjoy the restaurants, shops and entertainment.
    • Hop on a boat to the MK and then another to Fort Wilderness for pony or wagon rides, the Hoop Dee Doo Revue, Mickey's Backyard BBQ or Chip n' Dale's Campfire.

Let me know if you have more questions. Have a wonderful day and a magical trip!
