Hi, Melissa!
Thanks so much for sending us your question about
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, located at
Disney's Hollywood Studios!
My family and I just returned from our trip to Walt Disney World, and were in awe at the details throughout the land. You are in for a real treat!
There is a lot of excitement about all of the features in this land, so I'll explain our experience, to illustrate. When crowd levels have been high, Guests have often been allowed into the park 1/2 hour prior to the official Park Open. This only means, however, that Guests are able to activate their park tickets at the entrance, thus signaling My Disney Experience that they are in the park at that time. No attractions are open, and Guests gather from the entrance, up along Hollywood Boulevard, to Center Stage. (On the day we were there,
The Trolly Car Cafe was open for business when got in, about 1/2 hour prior to Park Open.)
At that point, all Guests who are in the park wait until the official Park Open. At that time, the My Disney Experience app (once refreshed) allow Guests to select "Join a Boarding Group" for
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, an unbelievable attraction that is truly more like an out-of-this galaxy experience than anything you've seen!
On the day we were there, I was able to get my party of four into Boarding Group 65 within a minute of Park Open. After that, we just kept our eye on the app, which let us know the range of Boarding Groups which was currently being allowed to enter the attraction. We enjoyed some old park favorites, such as
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Muppet*Vision 3D, and
Star Tours-The Adventures Continue. We also toured the new land, sampling treats from Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, and reservations at both
Oga's Cantina at the Walt Disney World Resort, and
Savi's Workshop-Handbuilt Lightsabers at the Walt Disney World Resort. It was a truly a day of galactic proportions!
Even if they don't have reservations, Guests may tour
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. If they have not joined a Boarding Group, they won't be able to ride
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. When we visited, however, Guests could wait in a
standby line for the other fantastic
Star Wars attraction in that land,
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Of course, Guests may enter Disney's Hollywood Studios at any time from Park Open to Park Close. Those die-hard fans, however, may arrive super-early just to be sure that they can join a Boarding Group and experience a day that's packed with adventure.
