DW, DS9, DD3 and I. Staying at CB Resort 11/21-27.Deluxe dining plan & Hopper. I overplan,my wife likes to underplan and be flexible. Made dinner res at Shutters, LibTreeTravern, MamaMelrose, Aker, Tusker, and SpiritAloha. What else should we plan ah

    Stuart:

Sounds like you're on the right track: making dining reservations for you and park hoppers for your wife to keep the trip flexible!

What I like about Disney dining reservations at most restaurants is if your plans change, you're not penalized.  In fact, you'll make some diner very happy who's waiting in stand-by!

But flexibility can be a double-edge sword at Disney....not having a plan of at least which park to go to on what day and where you'll eat can result in not only loss of time but also loss money--especially if you have the Deluxe Dining Plan.

One of the advantages of the Deluxe plan is the freedom to enjoy more two-credit restaurants--and WHATEVER you want on their exquisite menus!  But to get into them, you really need to have a reservation--ESPECIALLY the week of Thanksgiving!  Otherwise, you'll find that as you compromise to stay "flexible" you may end up stand-by at a one-credit meal, or worse, counter service out of frustration of getting a table during such a busy week.  In the end, you've lost the value of the paying for the upgrade to Deluxe Dining with credits left over....

If you're looking to maximize the plan, I'd add a few more two-credit meals like Mickey's Backyard BBQ your first night (the kids will LOVE the dance party), California Grill with it's fabulous views, Narccoosee's for seafood, and Yachtsman's Steakhouse!  A meal in Cinderella Castle is a good choice, especially for your daughter.

Don't be concerned that you may only eat two meals some days...if you time breakfast later and dinner earlier, you'll be fine.  By the end of the week, I think you'll find the Deluxe Plan has got you stuffed!  PLUS: you won't find yourself spending so much of your time in the restaurants versus the parks.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
