We have our DVC vacation books for July 2021. If we purchase theme park tickets (AP is not available right now for purchase), would we be able to upgrade a 10 day park ticket into an Annual Pass Gold using our DVC membership, if AP is available for 202?

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question! I'm a big fan of a Walt Disney World annual pass. We've been loyal passholders for more than 20 years and love all the great discounts and benefits that come with being a part of the passholder family.

New annual pass sales are currently on hold during the phased reopening of the theme parks, and we don't have any word on when those sales may resume. So yes, one alternative for you would be to purchase 10-day tickets so that you can make your plans -- including your reservations to enter the theme parks, using the Disney Park Pass system --  and then convert the tickets to annual passes when they become available.

Since your vacation is almost a year away, I might wait a little while longer to see if annual pass sales reopen in the near future. (Current annual passholders have through August 11 to decide if they want to cancel their passes in light of the changes created by enhanced health and safety measures.) I would keep an eye on the Walt Disney World travel information website for all the latest updates, including details on annual pass sales.

Meanwhile, as you dream of your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation, you can begin to think about all the places you want to eat, the attractions you want to experience and the fun your family will share. If you need recommendations, please check back with us. My fellow planDisney panelists and I are always eager to share our experiences and suggestions.

    Enjoy!
