We have a DVC reservation at Grand Floridian, while we are there our granddaughter will turn 3 will the resort bring her balloons? Do we need to ask at the desk? If no, is thee a place where we can get balloons filled with helium at the resort?

    Welcome Home, Nikki!

Spending a birthday at the Walt Disney World Resort is magical for kids of all ages. My three sons have all celebrated a birthday at Disney and there are many things you can do to make it extra special! Whether you are turning 4 or 40, Disney is the perfect place to turn a year older!

You should have your granddaughter’s birthday noted on your Disney Vacation Club Reservation. Call Member Services to be sure this is added. While sometimes you may experience a little surprise pixie dust in the form of a birthday card or message from the resort, this is not a guarantee and should not be counted on. We have had birthdays where we have received a birthday card from Mickey, and other birthdays where we have not. Make sure to request her complimentary Birthday Celebration Button from the desk at check-in. It makes a great souvenir and she may find that a lot of “Happy Birthday!” wishes are sent her way from Cast Members and even fellow Guests!

If your granddaughter loves balloons, I’d recommend using Disney Floral & Gifts to have a balloon bouquet delivered to your room. While there isn’t a place at the resort itself to request to have helium balloons inflated, Disney Floral & Gifts has beautiful arrangements to make any occasion extra special. From balloon bouquets to flowers to giant gift baskets, you’ll find a wide variety of items that can be delivered.

Alternately, if you were looking for a surprise on a budget, perhaps bring a small gift from home, or purchase a new plush from the gift shop. If you asked at the front desk, they would likely be able to deliver your gift to the room while you were in the parks. Traditionally, this is something they are usually able to do, but I do want to caution that with current safety precautions, things are always subject to change.

I do have one more option for you. Balloons are available to purchase on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom, so another idea would be to have one of your party head back to the resort a little early for a “nap.” That person could purchase a balloon (or two or three!) on Main Street, U.S.A., and take them back to set up in your room for the birthday girl to find upon her return.

I hope this helps you plan the perfect birthday surprise for your granddaughter, Nikki! Please let us know if you have any additional questions as you plan your visit, we are here to help.

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
