Are DVC points for staterooms charged per person or per room

Ahoy Tim and welcome to planDisney! A Disney Cruise is a great way to experience Disney magic. Coupled with our Disney Vacation Club membership, it’s the best way to experience the level of Disney service on land and sea. In fact, our family has a sailing next week followed by a day of rest and relaxation at one of our home resorts, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. Now let’s dive into your question so we can get you on a sailing!

The point charts for exchanging Vacation Points towards a Disney cruise list the amount needed per person, based on double occupancy for the particular stateroom. If you plan to have additional guests in your stateroom, the point charts typically indicate the Vacation Points needed for additional guests as well. Just be aware that how many additional guests you can add is based on the maximum occupancy of the stateroom. It sounds like you have already viewed the point charts for Disney cruises, but I wanted to provide this link to the point charts for various Disney Cruise Line sailings for your convenience.

A couple of reminders about these types of exchanges towards a Disney cruise. First, only DVC Members eligible for Membership Extras can exchange Vacation Points towards a cruise. There is also typically a transaction fee associated with these exchanges. Finally, this type of exchange is subject to the Rule of Four, which basically means you must make a reservation before the last 4 months of your Use Year for sailings within that Use Year.

Here’s a couple bonus tips as you consider exchanging Vacation Points towards a cruise. First, DVC is offering some specially priced point charts for select sailings on the Disney Dream and the Disney Wonder. In order to look at those point charts, visit this DVC website and select the “Read More” link under the section “Take Your Points Further!”.

Second, if you’re considering using Vacation Points towards a cruise, I suggest looking into the upcoming DVC Member Cruise! The 2027 Member Cruise will be sailing out of San Diego on the Disney Wonder. If you haven’t been on one before, you’ll be in for a treat! There are often unique and exclusive experiences and special gifts just for Members. Our family sailed on the 2023 Member Cruise and we were treated to a performance by Jodi Benson, voice of Ariel from The Little Mermaid, and received a ton of gifts, such as a beach blanket, a duffel bag, some unique artwork, a Lorcana card set, a Goofy plush doll, among many other gifts. When they say you should bring an empty suitcase for all the giveaways on a Member Cruise, they really mean it! Registration for this upcoming Member Cruise will begin on February 28, 2026 and is sure to quickly sell out.

Tim, I hope this information was helpful for you as you explore sailing the seas on a Disney Cruise. If you have any further questions on making the most of your DVC Membership, please feel free to contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
