We are DVC members and are wanting to visit Aulani for the 1st time. Weather-wise and crowd- wise is April or July a better time?

Aloha Michele!  I'm so happy to hear that you are going to be visiting Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa for your first time - I'll be it won't be your last!  It really is a very special place, and I hope you love it as much as I do!  First of all, weather-wise, April averages low 80's and July is the warmest month in the high 80's. Both months are about the same, rain-wise, with April having just slightly higher rain-fall, but nothing too severe.  Crowd levels in April may be higher, due to Spring Breaks in the U.S., Easter holidays, and at the end of April is what is referred to as Golden Week - a holiday for Japanese and Hawaiians that is the busiest tourist week throughout the year.  July will be busiest at the beginning due to Independence Day, and the rest of the month will have the usual influx of summer tourists.

There is really not a compelling reason to choose, or avoid either of the two months you are thinking of. Look at the points charts for both and see which will fit best for your points allotment, and then take a look at prices for flights, as they can vary greatly by month - my guess is that April flights will be more expensive than July.

Please let me know Michele, if you have any other questions I can answer for you about Aulani - I would be happy to help you!  Have a magical day!
