Hi we are dvc members, we have a trip booked in Jan 21 which we used all our borrow pts. We want to delay our trip in May 21. Will we have the 50% borrow pts restrictions if we modify the date. Our trip was booked in Feb 20 before the new policy. Thanks

    Hey Jean-Francois!

Welcome Home! We’re so glad you found us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

You’ve brought your questions here at the perfect moment! I am so excited that Disney Vacation Club resorts are set to open in a few weeks. We’re definitely headed in the right direction and I hope you are as excited as I am for the reopening of the four theme parks at Walt Disney World.

When you borrow points they get borrowed into the use year of your vacation. So because you already borrowed the points, when you cancel the January reservation those points will not be unborrowed. Those points will remain in the use year in which they were borrowed into and will need to be used before that use year is over. You will not need to re-borrow points for the May reservation so the 50% limit set for next year should not affect you since you will not be borrowing any more points. I do want to mention that you need to make sure May 2021 falls into the same use year. If you had a February use year then this would not work as those borrowed points would stay in the previous use year and need to be used for a vacation before that use year is over.

As you can see, this can get a bit tricky so I highly recommend that you call Member Services to make sure everything squares up and that your use year allows you to move the reservation from January to May using the borrowed points. They can even do it for you so that you can avoid any hiccups.

Well Jean-Francois, I hope you found this information useful and we hope to welcome you Home very soon. If anything else comes up please come back and let us know.

Remember, always believe in the Magic!
