We are DVC members staying at Bay Lake Towers for six nights and then switching on last night to Wilderness. Any suggestions on making the transfer smooth? We would like to spend the transfer day at Magic Kingdom. Thank you!

    Hi Jennifer,

I am green with envy over your reservation at Bay Lake Towers, I can't wait to stay there!  Moving resorts mid-stay is actually quite common and there are a few things that you can to to make it virtually seamless!

First of all, I suggest that you utilize the online check-in prior to leaving home for BOTH of your resort reservations.  If you are staying on points this can be done through the member website by clicking on the "View Vacation Details" link from the "My Membership" module on the homepage.  If you are not using vacation points.  If you are not using points, simply log onto the www.disneyworld.com website and click on "My Disney Vacation" to use the online check-in feature.

Next, on the day of your transfer I would send one of the adults on the reservation over to the Wilderness Lodge first thing in the morning (boat transportation will be the quickest).  Since you presumably will have already checked in online, you simply need to pick up your welcome packet and keys.  If you room is not ready at that time, leave your cell phone number and they will send you a text message with your room number when it's available for you.

Once your bags are packed and ready to go at Bay Lake Tower, simply call or bring your things down to Bell Services and let them know you need your luggage transferred to your new resort.  They will move your bags over to your new resort, and when you arrive back at the Wilderness Lodge after your day in the park, simply call bell services and request that your luggage be delivered to your room.

It may sound like a lot of detail, but it really is a fairly simple process, and it allows for you to enjoy your day rather than waiting around for your room and your bags.

    Hope this helps!
