We are dvc members and are planning a trip next May for our daughter's graduation. Our booking window does not open till late October, should we buy our tickets first to lock in the dates or wait till after we vook our room?

Hey there, Rhonda! Welcome to planDisney and Welcome Home! I'm so happy that you've stopped by with your vacation planning question. I just love chatting Disney with a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member!

Wow! Planning a pixie-dusted vacation to celebrate your daughter's graduation next year sounds nothing short of magical. How exciting! That really is the magic of being a DVC Member, isn't it? Knowing that your next family adventure is always just around the riverbend and being able to plan unforgettable celebrations is priceless. I am so excited for you and your daughter to embark on the next year's journey and celebrate it with the most magical destination, and I'm honored to help you plan!

I typically recommend booking a stay at your Home Resort as soon as your 11-month booking window opens to lock down a Resort reservation, switching to a different Resort, if you want, once your seven-month booking window opens, and then purchasing Walt Disney World theme park tickets and locking down Theme Park Pass reservations. However, it sounds like your Home Resort is not at Walt Disney World Resort, so, let's plan accordingly.

Since you will be booking your Resort stay at your seven-month booking window and the Resort availability may be somewhat limited, I suggest locking in your Resort reservation first and then purchasing theme park tickets. That way, you will know your exact vacation dates and can purchase your tickets according to the start of your vacation. Seven months before your trip, there should still be plenty of Theme Park Pass reservation availability, so, you shouldn't have any problems making those reservations at that time. Just make sure that you make your Park Pass reservations as soon as you can!

Once you've arrived at The Most Magical Place on Earth, be sure to stop by the front desk of your DVC Resort to grab some "I'm Celebrating" buttons to get the graduation party started!

I hope this was helpful, Rhonda, and I hope you and your family have the most magical and memorable celebration vacation! Please stop by any time and ask me any vacation planning or DVC questions you may have along the way. You've got a friend in me!

I hope to see ya real soon,

    Mandy
