We are DVC members but we are very new and I have a couple of questions. I was wondering if we could stay at the value resorts or the deluxe resorts and still use our points. We have a large family and we will need two rooms and I thought maybe we could sa

Howdy Thomas!! I LOVE that as new Disney Vacation Club Members you are looking for ways to maximize your Membership! Nice!!

Great news! Members who purchase directly from Disney can stay at any of the Disney Collection destinations at Walt Disney World. This currently includes 3 Moderate Resorts. Last year, we spent a couple of nights at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort to treat our 4 year old to a Pirate Room. He loved every minute of it and can't wait to visit again.

There are a few things you need to know when booking a Disney Collection Resort reservation using your points. 1.) There is a non-refundable $95 charge when you book your reservation. 2.) You might find that you will use less points by staying at a DVC Resort. You can find a points chart for the Disney Collection Resorts on the DVC Member website. Go to Destinations and under Member Getaways, you will see Disney Collection. View the Disney Collection and compare them to the DVC Resorts. From there, you will be able to make the most educated decision. You will find that a Deluxe Studio and sometimes a 1-Bedroom Villa may be less points in some instances.

I pulled the following information directly from the DVC Member website because it's another important guideline that you will need to know based upon the dates of your travel: "The Rule of Four Applies: You cannot book and travel to a Disney Collection destination within the last 4 months of your Use Year (excluding Disneyland Resort in California and Tokyo Disney Resort). You can, however, travel in the last 4 months of your Use Year as long as you have booked your stay more than 4 months before the end of your Use Year."

As new DVC Members, it can get a bit overwhelming. Just break it down and look at each reservation one by one. If you need further information, don't hesitate to ask me a follow up question or contact Member Services.

Thank you so much for your question and have a magical day!
