Jessica:
If I were a DVC member, I'd be going for Bay Lake Towers! They just completed it last year, and, although I've not considered becoming a DVC member since I own an RV, it may be the resort to send me over the edge....
When I toured the model two years ago while they were still in the building stages, I fell in love with the sleek interiors! Stainless steel appliances, leather and steel sofas and granite countertops impressed me. Unlike some of the older DVC properties, it does not share its main pool with its hotel sister making it less crowded, in my opinion. Yes, the master suite includes the jacuzzi that you're probably used to with DVC properties, but rarely do I find luxury accommodations like these on my other vacation trips.
I've been amazed at the views from the rooms that I've found online at sites like
www.allears.net. Views of Bay Lake are as amazing to me as those that face Magic Kingdom. I'd recommend that you request an upper floor room rather than a lower floor to get a better view regardless of which side of the hotel you choose. What makes it a popular locale is its skywalk to the Contemporary's monorail, an attraction in itself, as you know.
Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
Whitney
p.s. If it's booked (which could be likely since it's new), consider staying at the new Animal Kingdom Kidani Village or Beach Club Villas. Both have extraordinary pools--perfect for a summer stay. Beach Club has the nearby access to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios like what you found when you stayed at Boardwalk.
