I am a DVC member and I would like to use my points to book? Is that possible and far in advance am i permitted to do so?

Welcome Home, Loretta - and welcome to planDisney! We're so glad you're here. There's no time like the present to start planning your next Disney adventure, and I'm here to give you all the details on how to use your Disney Vacation Club Membership to make your 2025 vacation a reality. Let's get right to it!

Joining DVC was a great choice for our family, and I hope the same will be true for you! There are lots of different ways to use your Vacation Points to meet your family's unique travel needs - but it's good to understand the basics of how Membership works so you can maximize the magic.

When you purchase a Membership, you receive a set number of Vacation Points connected to a specific Disney Vacation Club Resort. This property is your Home Resort. Each year for the duration of your contract, you will receive the same number of points on the first day of your Use Year - i.e., the month in which the points are allotted each year. For instance, we have a June Use Year at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, so our points are distributed each year on June 1.

Loretta, you can book a reservation using your Vacation Points at your Home Resort beginning 11 months before your check-in date. Based on your October date, you can now make this reservation - either online or by calling Member Services. I often call, as the Cast Members are very knowledgeable and super helpful! Especially if you're a newer Member, they are a great resource.

If you hope to book a stay at a different DVC Resort, that window opens 7 months before your arrival date. Since availability can be more limited at this time, I recommend that you book something at your Home Resort now and then modify your booking at the 7-month mark (again, you can do this online or by calling) This will guarantee that you have a reservation for your stay.  When the 7-month window opens, if the resort you're hoping for is not available, you can create a Waitlist for that reservation. You'll keep the original booking, and if the other stay becomes available, it will be booked for you and replace the first one.

One last tip for your 2025 vacation - Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel (including DVC resorts) in 2025 receive free water park admission on their check-in day! Plan to arrive early, leave your luggage with Bell Services, and head off for some fun in the sun. It's a great way to dive right into vacation mode!

Loretta, I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes. Thanks so much for visiting planDisney, and please come see us again anytime if we can help with other questions about Disney Vacation Club Membership.
