I am a DVC member and planning a big family trip in December 2014. My use year is October, if I don't have enough points when I book in March can I make the reservation as cash and switch to points in October? I will be booking 4 or 5 rooms.

    Hi Denise,

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.

The answer to your question is no, you cannot book a Disney Vacation Club accommodation first on cash and later switch the payment method on the vacation to Vacation Points.  However, there is some good news for you.  The Vacation Points that you use to book a vacation are based on your travel date, not on the date that you make the booking.  Let's say that you are going to book a vacation that begins on December 10, 2014.  Any points that you have available on December 10, 2014, including those to borrow, will be available when you make your reservation. If you are booking at your home resort, you can book the trip at 11 months out, which is January 10, 2014.  If you are booking at another Disney Vacation Club resort, you could book the trip seven months ahead, which is May 10, 2014.

If you decide to use your Vacation Points, I recommend that you book at 11 months ahead at your home resort.  This way you are the most likely to get the number of rooms that you need.  Then, if you want to change the resort, you can do that at seven months ahead of your travel date.

I hope that this information is helpful, Denise.  Have a great time planning your vacation, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
