As a DVC member bringing my family, cousin's family and 2 grandma's, is it better to stay in a Grand Villa or a 2 bedroom and deluxe studio? (12 people total, 6 adults, 6 kids)

    Hello, Susan!

    This is a great question!

We chose a Grand Villa for our upcoming 3-generation, 11 person vacation, because it offered us the best accommodations, including privacy, kitchen space and accessibility, for everyone to gather together as desired. I like the ability to find everyone a private space, too, should it be needed, which is still easy to do in a Grand Villa. (Kidani Village Grand Villas, for example, offer an additional sleeping area in the second floor loft. Perfect for my teenager and her friend to get away from her little brother, who has the entire lower living room sleeper sofa / sleeper chair to himself.) Consider, too, would anyone be disappointed to be in that studio, which is cut off from the action and amenities of the main villa? (Full kitchen, laundry room, family time, etc.) If so, go Grand Villa.

However, if there is one particular group in your party that would benefit from having a room (the deluxe studio) which is closed off from the rest of the chaos...I mean family...then perhaps the 2-bedroom / deluxe studio would be a better combination for you. For example, is there a family who needs some real quiet for naptime? Is a there a grandparent who loves the grandkids, but needs quiet time when the littlest ones just won't have access to them? Try the two separate rooms then.

Again, I'd say that this depends on those in your party. But if you don't fit the criteria listed for the separate villas, and the points you'll need to spend for this stay are equal, then I highly recommend the Grand Villa. Imagine the photo opportunities you'll have in that grand space, too, with the whole gang gathered in the dining area or the living room. What great memories you'll build on that trip!

Please send any additional questions you may have as you think of them! I'd love to help you plan your multi-generational extravaganza!
