    As a DVC member, can I book a room for my sister using cash and get a DVC discount?

    Welcome to planDisney from a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member!  I'm so glad you dropped by with a question today.  It sounds like you're in training to be a Fairy Godmother –– how cool is it that you're planning to wave your magic wand and share a little DVC magic with your sister!  To help you get everything set up for her visit, let me share a few details about booking cash reservations as a Disney Vacation Club Member.

    To give you a little background info, here's how a cash reservation works –– when Disney Vacation Club Members make exchanges with their Vacation Points, their DVC property is rented for cash to offset the cost and make the exchange happen.  When it does, this opens up cash availability, which gets passed on to Members in the form of discounted rates for cash stays at Disney Vacation Club Resorts.  And the best part?  While these discounted reservations are only available for DVC Members to book, the Member doesn't actually need to occupy the room –– this means that you're welcome to book a discounted reservation at a Disney Vacation Club Resort for your sister to enjoy during her upcoming Disney Resort visit.  Just keep in mind that cash availability changes all the time, so there's no guarantee of which Resorts and room types will be available during her visit.  Don't worry, though –– you won't need a pumpkin or mice to make her wish come true.  To check availability and book the cash stay, you'll just need to give Member Services a call at (800) 800-9800.
