Welcome Home, Amy--thanks for stopping by planDisney! I'm so glad you decided to be our guest once again. It's with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that we proudly present...alternative uses for
Disney Vacation Club points!
There are so many great things about being a DVC Member, Amy, but a lesser-known benefit is the ability to use your
Vacation Points to stay at Disney destinations around the world--not just
Walt Disney World Resort or
Disneyland Resort! The
Disney Collection is the portfolio of all Disney Resort Hotels globally, and you can exchange Vacation Points for Reservation Points to stay at properties at the Florida and California theme parks and beyond. We've used this benefit in the past when one of our girls had a dance competition at Walt Disney World so we could stay at the same Resort Hotel as the team, and it's really simple to do.
This transaction needs to be completed by calling
Member Services. They will check availability for your preferred resort and handle the transaction to exchange points. It's important to note that an exchange carries a one-time, non-refundable fee (currently $95, subject to change). Once Vacation Points are converted to Reservation Points, you can't switch them back to Vacation Points--so if your plans change, the following guidelines apply:
- For reservations arriving in 2024 canceled 5 or more days before check-in, all of the Reservation Points will be returned to the Use Year in which the reservation falls. This means that you could still use them to book another Disney Collection stay within that Use Year. If you cancel 4 days or less before check-in, all of the points are forfeited.
- A change for 2025 arrivals: cancellations must be made 8 or more days before check-in; otherwise the points will be forfeited.
Amy, thanks again for making a return trip to planDisney! I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes. Please stop back and see us anytime if we can help with additional questions to make your next Disney adventure as magical as can be.
Stay Magical!
Susan
