Hi John.
Thanks so much for visiting the Moms Panel with your question.
The Courtyard Pool at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort is indeed currently closed for refurbishment and upgrades, scheduled to re-open on December 15th. During this time, a zero-entry slope is being added to the pool as well as some enhancements to the Kiddie Pool area.
The Beach Pool, located at the south end of the property, closest to Disney's Wedding Pavilion, will remain open during this time frame. Also at the Beach Pool area are a water slide, themed splash area for kids, rest rooms, towel distribution and the Beach Pool Bar.
Additionally, if you should choose, the pool areas at the nearby
Polynesian Resort will be available to all guests of the Grand Floridian Resort during these refurbishments and enhancements. You can access the Polynesian via walking path past the Wedding Pavilion, by monorail or by boat. It's a beautiful resort and I'd highly recommend that you plan a visit to utilize the facilities there if a relaxing afternoon by the pool is on your agenda. The Nanea Volcano Pool features a water slide and waterfall and is situated along the shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon. If a 'quiet' pool area is more your style, you'll find a second, beautiful and quiet 'East Pool' at the Polynesian nestled in a tropical courtyard.
Please don't hesitate to write me back if I may assist you further with your plans.
Wishing you a simply Magical time at Walt Disney World John!
