During September, what are the wait times on many of the popular rides? Our children will be 2 & 4 - the oldest may be 40 inches by then. Should we have an "attack" plan? Should we avoid Extra Magic Hours if we don't have a park hopper? Stat

    Hi Amanda!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

In general, September is a relatively quiet month at Walt Disney World.  That is one of the reasons that Disney usually runs a nice promotion during that month, such as Free Dining.  Thus I wouldn't worry about planning your vacation around predicted crowd levels.  If you want to go to a certain theme parks on a certain, day I would just go!

However, if you are really worried about crowds, then I suggest visiting the independent website TouringPlans.com.  That's the website for the research team behind the tour book "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World".  They are famous in the Disney fan community for producing a crowd calendar that predicts the crowd levels in the different parks on different days.  For each day, they recommend which parks to visit and which to avoid.  Their recommendations are based on a lot of math and years of data collection.  As an engineering, I'm a huge fan of their work.

With regards to Extra Magic Hours, it is true that Morning Extra Magic Hours generally draw a lot of Walt Disney World Resort guests.  A good option is to avoid the park offering Morning Extra Magic Hours.  I think Evening Extra Magic  Hours don't have the draw as the morning ones do, so I wouldn't necessarily change plans if you plan on visiting a park during the day that is offering evening Extra Magic Hours.

I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
