During EMH in the morning, does the ceremony to open the parks start at the beginning of EMH's or at the time the general public is admitted? Also, what goes on during the opening at each of the parks?

Erika, the "ceremonies" that are done to open the parks take place at the regular opening time, not at the beginning of the Extra Magic Hour.  Each park puts on a unique "show" that serves to welcome the guests and jumpstart the day with a bit of magic.  I can tell you that at both Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom you can expect to see lots of characters taking part.  I'm partial to the welcome ceremony at the Magic Kingdom where the characters arrive by train.  There is lots of dancing and music and excitement (even some tossing of confetti).  Mickey and friends really know how to start the day off with pageantry and enthusiasm.  If you are able to see it during your trip I think you'll enjoy it, I know my family does.

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
