During the down time of my Disneyland trip, my friend and I will be visiting Downtown Disney. Can Disney Gift Cards be used to pay for meals at sit down resturants there? Thanks as always.

Hi Tom! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney.

Disney Gift Cards are a convenient way to pay for your Disneyland Resort vacation. I make a practice of asking for Disney Gift Cards for the holidays to use toward our family trips. You can book a stay at one of the magical Disneyland Resort Hotels using a Disney Gift Card, purchase admission tickets, and shop online at the Disney Store. And of course, they come in handy during your vacation!

In the parks, you can pay for dining at most snack carts, quick service, and table service locations using your gift card. Plus, don't forget to pick out the perfect souvenir with your Disney Gift Card while you're exploring the parks. There are also plenty of locations that accept Disney Gift Cards in the Downtown Disney District, including two of my favorites, Star Wars Trading Post for my Star Wars gear and Disney Wonderful World of Sweets for a sweet treat. You've got to try the Churro Toffee! It's not to be missed.

Unfortunately, beyond picking up a sweet treat, you'll find that most dining locations in the Downtown Disney District are third-party operators, and as such, they don't accept Disney Gift Cards. If you'd like to grab a bite to eat, however, and use your gift card, you do have a few nearby options! Both the Disneyland Hotel and Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa are conveniently located to the Downtown Disney District. These beautifully themed hotels feature delicious dining spots, some of which don't require a dining reservation, and they accept your gift card as a method of payment.

Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill overlooks the pool at the Disneyland Hotel. It's a favorite of mine! You can even grab a DOLE WHIP outside of the parks in this spot! If you like tiki vibes and island-inspired cuisine, this is a fantastic choice. But you can't go wrong with any of the dining locations at these Disneyland Resort Hotels. Use the Disneyland mobile app to locate the dining and check menus to see if they serve something that sounds right for you.

If you'd like to dine at a table service location, reservations are recommended, and availability may be limited. Dining reservations typically open 60 days before your visit. Make a reminder on your mobile device to help ensure you're able to secure the perfect spot to dine using your Disney Gift Card. Availability is not guaranteed.

    I hope this helps!
