During a 1 day visit, does it make sense to arrive at the park and then walk to the Disneyland Hotel for character dining and then return to the park? It seems like it would waste a lot of time.

    Hey Jenifer!

    Welcome to planDisney!

Someone is getting ready for a visit to Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel! You’ll get to take a picture in Goofy’s crazy kitchen before you enter the restaurant to enjoy your meal with Goofy and his friends. Both brunch and dinner offer a wide selection of all-you-care-to-enjoy dishes like deviled eggs, breakfast pizza, macaroni & cheese, and even barbecue pork spareribs. You’re definitely going to want to bring your appetite!

I think taking time out of your one-day visit for character dining really comes down to a personal choice and what you’re hoping to get out of your day. I understand your concern as a character dining experience will be at least two hours out of your day. You may have little ones who will need a break in which case it’s the perfect opportunity to do so. If meeting and interacting with characters are a priority for your trip, I always recommend character dining as you’ll get many interactions and photo opportunities. It can be more time efficient than meeting characters in the parks, but they both have their pros to them. A lot of the Fab 5 love to hang around Goofy’s Kitchen so you may be able to cross them off your list and catch others in the parks.

You may be thinking about maximizing your day with attractions and entertainment in which case a character dining experience may not be the best use of your time, and you may opt to eat on the go while you’re heading to your next attraction. If you want the best of both worlds, maybe try making your reservation early in the morning before the park opens so that you don’t miss a lot of park time. Personally, my family makes dining a big part of our days in the parks and we love enjoying a sit-down meal at one of our favorite restaurants. We find it gives our feet a rest and breaks up the day.

Well Jenifer, if you have any more questions for us please come back and let us know.

Remember, always believe in the Magic!
