Hi Collin!
Thanks for your question and welcome to your first Disney resort stay!
So, it sounds like you have the
Standard Disney Dining Plan. This plan works to where each member of your party (ages 3 and up) are entitled to 1 Quick Service Meal, 1 Table Service Meal, and 1 snack for each night of your stay. In addition, you get a Disney mug that you can refill endlessly at the resort in which you're staying. Quick Service meals are the more check-in/check-out restaurants where you place your own order at an ordering station and get the meal yourself (similar to a Food Court experience). Table Service meals are hosted meals, where you're led to a table and have a waiter serve you. These meals and the snack can be cashed in at any of the resort or any of the parks. Any character meal you attend is considered a Table Service. Almost all are just 1 entitlement, with the exception of Cinderella's Royal Table or any Dinner Show you attend, those are 2 entitlements per person. Disney also have what they call "Signature" restaurants, which are the more upscale sit-down restaurants on their premises. Any Signature restaurant will cost 2 entitlements per person. If you have any children who are not quite 3 years old, they are not charged at all (the assumption is that most likely they will eat off someone else's plate).
So that should generally cover it. Ask us any more questions if you have them, and good luck with all your planning!
