We (DH, DS(2),I) are attending MNSSHP Sept 5. I'm worried about how HOT it will be for dressing in costume, as most are long pants or furry and DS is only 2. Does anyone have any insight either way or better costume suggestions? Thanks.

I can tell you from experience that it will be hot!  I suggest that you stay away from full-body fur if you can avoid it.  This is one time when dressing as Pooh or Tigger is not a great idea.

We always head over to the Halloween party around 4:00 in the afternoon and even the year I dressed as Peter Pan, costumed in short sleeves, a skirt, and tights, I was dripping sweat.  It wasn't a pretty picture.  The following year we wore short sleeved tie dye t-shirts with jeans (dressed as hippies) and it was equally hot and sticky.

As far as costume suggestions, I'd go with an option that requires few layers.  Think Indian brave, Karate Kid, Tarzan.  It really is warm, even into the night and you'll be so much more comfortable if you dress for the occasion.

Do remember to apply a coat of bug spray as well.  The year I went as Peter Pan I neglected to do so thinking that I was safe because I wore those hideous green tights.  Well, let's just say I learned my lesson!  Here's a tip for you: mosquitos bite right through tights!  Who knew?

    Have a spooktacular time!
