how do you drop off someone at the park

Hello and welcome, Marilyn! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.

I actually drive to the Walt Disney World Theme Parks every time I visit, so I'm very familiar with how the drop-off system at the parking lots work. What you are going to do is just head to the theme parks like you'd be driving yourself and parking. When you arrive, you'll stop at the parking lot booths where you'd typically pay to park. You'll let the Cast Member helping you know that you are just dropping off a Guest and you'll be directed into a special lane that will take you to a designated Guest drop-off area. You will not need to pay for parking, since you won't be staying. If you are going to be picking that person up later in the day, you will do the exact same thing as you did before just alerting the Cast Member that you'll be picking up instead. Keep in mind that if you are taking someone to Magic Kingdom Park, you'll actually need to take them to the Transportation & Ticket Center instead of Magic Kingdom Park directly since there is no parking there. Once you've dropped them off at the Transportation & Ticket Center they will need to take a bus, boat or monorail over to Magic Kingdom Park. These transportation modes are complimentary so no worries there. If you change your mind and want to join your friend at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks for the day, standard theme park parking is $25.00 for the day and $45-$50 for preferred parking. The parking lots open up anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour prior to the park opening.

I hope this helps, Marilyn! If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach back out to me. Have a great day!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
