Hey there Tom, and welcome to planDisney!
It's always great to help fellow Canadians as they plan their trips down to Florida, especially when it comes to the ins and outs of using the complimentary
Resort Transportation here in Orlando! Looking at your question I must admit it's hard to tell what location across all of Walt Disney World Resort you're referring to, and wish I had a little more context about your plans as this information could be different if you were a chartered bus driver on a school trip or just a friend or family member picking up the gang after a day at the theme parks. I can however offer a bit of insight into what the process is like getting picked up and dropped off at the theme parks in general, and hope that the following is useful to you:
- As you pass through the gates leading to any of the Parking lots, speak with the Cast Member to let them know whether you're just dropping off or picking up passengers and they will direct you to the next Cast Member or signage that will indicate where you should go. These locations are subject to change without prior notice and may be rerouted to a new location (as we've experienced this year at EPCOT), so it's always good to reconfirm when you arrive and ensure that everyone takes a picture or makes a mental note to return to the same spot.
- The Guest Relations Cast Member I checked with let me know that though there isn't any official posted limit to how long you can wait, this is again subject to change and guests may have to move when requested by a Cast Member. (In my experience this has never been something that we have encountered, but I imagine how hectic it can be when arriving or departing at the busiest times of the day.)
It's always a good idea to keep in communication with your group and depending on their speed, it has never been more than a few minutes for us to get from the exit of a theme park to where we'd be able to be picked up. The biggest exception would be the
Transportation and Ticket Center where they'll need to take the Walt Disney World Monorail System to meet you, but I've observed many drivers patiently in wait due to the additional amount of time it can take for guests to wait for a monorail, board, and disembark - especially at the very end of the day.
Hope this helped, Tom! Don't hesitate to
come back to planDisney again to ask again in case you have any more specifics you'd like to share, for a more in-depth answer!
