Bright suns, Amber, and thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
I am so excited for your upcoming visit to a galaxy far, far away! Visiting
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is an experience you’ll never forget… there’s nothing like seeing the
Millenium Falcon in person for the very first time!
When I first visited Batuu, my son had one request – to build a droid at the
Droid Depot. From the moment we walked inside, he was in awe of the entire process, from selecting his droid’s components from a conveyor belt, to the assembly process, all the way to the activation. I can’t wait for you to experience this for yourself! Have fun, and be creative!
I’m happy to report that you should be able to ship your custom astromech droid unit to your home upon completion. I checked with a Cast Member, and he said that domestic shipping of droids shouldn’t be a problem. He recommended letting the Cast Member at the cash register know that you’d prefer to ship your droid so that they can guide you through the process. (You’ll prepay for the droid-building experience before you actually begin building it).
Once your astromech is ready to go, you can continue customizing it with optional accessories that will change its personality. You’re also going to want to check out all the droid-related souvenirs in Droid Depot, including the adorable droid headbands -- they actually light up and beep!
Last but not least, don’t forget to make a reservation online at 7:00 AM on your arrival day if you plan on making a
handbuilt lightsaber, or visiting the local watering hole,
Oga’s Cantina. And, no trip to Batuu is complete without a trip to the
Milk Stand. I can't wait for you to decide if you're #TeamBlueMilk or #TeamGreenMilk.
May the Force be with you, Amber!
