HI! We will be driving to WDW, suggestions on a hotel? If you have driven do you still use buses or park your car? How easy is it to get around in your own car vs taking buses? thanks!

    Hi Laura,

I have driven to Disney World many times, starting as a toddler with my parents and again with my own family.  Even when we drive, we still chose to rely primarily upon Disney transportation once we arrive on property.  Occasionally, we use our own car to travel between resorts (for dinner reservations at different hotels, for example), however when travelling to and from the parks, we let Disney do the driving.  Disney buses run approximately every 15-20 minutes between each of the resorts and the theme parks.  The buses are reliable and convenient.  In addition, the buses drop you as close as possible to the entrance of the parks.  When you drive your car, very often you will be parked further away from the main gates.  At the Magic Kingdom, if you chose to drive, you will actually need to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center and then take a boat or monorail to the park entrance.

As I mentioned, occasionally, we use our own car (or a rental) to travel between resorts for dinner reservations.  Disney buses do not travel between resorts, and you need to "connect" via a theme park.  Driving a car, therefore, tends to be faster in this case.

Regarding hotel recommendations, I would let your budget and preferences for basic versus more deluxe amenities drive your decision.  Disney has rooms and suites available in all price categories, from the modestly priced Value Resorts to five-star Deluxe Resorts.  No matter where you stay, you can expect a super clean, well-appointed room in a resort with a wonderful pool(s), fabulous lobby and great dining options.

    Have a wonderful trip!
