We will be driving to WDW in Orlando and staying the night at a Disney resort before and after our cruise. Is their Disney ground transportation to Cape Canaveral and returning to WDW. May we leave or car at the Disney Resort we will be returning to?

Ahoy, James! Welcome back to planDisney and thanks for reaching out about your upcoming Disney vacation on land and at sea.

Since so many guests choose to stay at the Walt Disney World Resort before or after their cruise from Port Canaveral, Disney Cruise Line offers guests the opportunity to purchase ground transportation between the two destinations in advance for an additional fee. Although the cost is always subject to change, it is currently $90 per person for a round-trip transfer. Port transfers are only available to Disney Cruise Line guests on their embarkation and debarkation days and may be booked to and from a variety of Disney World resort hotels. However, unlike airport transfers, these travel arrangements cannot be made online or through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. Instead, you must call Disney Cruise Line directly at (800) 951-3532, where cast members are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM EST, and Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST. You will need to provide your Disney Cruise Line reservation number and also indicate which Disney World hotel you will be staying at both before and after your sailing during the call.

That being said, you may want to consider other transportation options because you would not be able to leave your vehicle at any Disney World hotel for the duration of your cruise. Unfortunately, even though you are staying on property both before and after your cruise, the overnight self-parking that is available at the resorts is only complimentary to guests actively staying at those Disney Resort hotels.

If you are driving to Florida for your vacation anyway, then it may actually be more economical for you to also drive your family between Disney World and Port Canaveral. The current parking rate at Port Canaveral is listed as $20.00 per day plus tax, including the day of arrival and day of departure, but that is always subject to change. Depending on the number of members in your sailing party, the cost of parking one car may be better than paying for round-trip transportation for each person. Just keep in mind that the drive between Disney World and Port Canaveral is approximately one hour, so plan accordingly based on your assigned Port Arrival Time.

No matter which transportation options you choose, I hope you have an incredible vacation filled with double the Disney magic. If you have any other questions about your stay at Disney World or your sailing with Disney Cruise Line, then you can always reach back out to us at planDisney. Happy sailing!
