We are driving to WDW in June with our 7yr old. Is it better to drive ourselves to the parks or catch transportation? Also our first night we are going to chef mickey's from our resort at Saratoga springs any suggestions on how to get there? monorail?

    Hi Jennifer!

Seven is such a great age for a trip to Walt Disney World!  I am excited for you and I know you will have a magical time:)

Since you will have your vehicle, I actually recommend driving to your Chef Mickey's reservation.  There is no transportation that goes directly from your resort to the Contemporary Resort for your meal.  You can park at the Contemporary, though, since you have a reservation.  If you want to take a loop on the monorail, you can do that while you're there, too.

For the parks, I usually recommend the buses.  The buses will drop you off right at the park entrance.  If you drive yourself, sometimes you have to park pretty far away and then wait for a tram to take you to the entrance.

I always recommend taking the bus to the Magic Kingdom.  If you drive yourself, it will involve parking in the lot, riding a tram to the Transportation and Ticket Center, and then riding the monorail to the Magic Kingdom.

The only time we usually drive to the parks is if we have plans to go somewhere off Disney property when we leave the park for the day.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions as you plan your trip.
