We are driving to our upcoming visit to WDW. We will be staying on property and are wondering if it is faster to drive from the resort to the parks or to use the WDW transportation? We will visiting only one park per day.

    Hi Toni ~

When I'm traveling to Disney with my family, we always travel by minnie van. You will find Guests who are big fans of Disney transportation and others that are not. I prefer driving.

In my opinion, I think its going to depend on the time of day you are planning to visit the parks. If you plan to go early when lots of other Guests from your resort are going at the same time, you may be better off driving. Some would argue that buses drop you off near the front gate and you avoid the tram. If you go at park opening, you can probably get a parking space near the front of the park, walk to the front gate and avoid the tram. Plus you know you'll be driving directly to the park and not making any other stops along the way. The same thing goes at the end of the evening. Parking is free for Disney Hotel Guests.

The only park you may want to think about taking the bus to is the Magic Kingdom (MK). Getting to the MK when you drive can be an adventure. The Parking Plaza can get a little backed up especially first thing in the morning. The tram will take you from the parking lot to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). If you get there early enough, you can walk it and avoid the tram. From the TTC, you will have the option of taking the Monorail or the Ferry to the MK. Both of these options are fun and you could take one over to MK and the other on your way back. By the time you do all this, you may have been able to have caught a bus and been at the MK.

If you have little ones in your party and will have strollers, you'll have to fold them on the buses. For us, it was much easier to fold them and put them in the van instead of unloading all of the stuff in and on the strollers and trying to hold all of the stuff, the kids and the strollers on the crowded bus.

Please feel free to visit with all of your planning questions. It is our pleasure to assist you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
