We are going to be driving from Daytona and then stay at DW for four days. I've heard the Orlando traffic can be terrible. Is there a better route to avoid it to get to DW from Daytona? How much time should I plan to drive, check in, and get to MK?

Hi Colleen!  This is a tough question to answer as there are so many variables involved when talking about drive time and traffic etc. There are the unknowns such as accidents and weather which will be the biggest factors in clogging the roads.

The best way is really to still use I 4 and just bear it the best you can. Try to time it so you are going through downtown Orlando between the hours of 10am and 2pm.  This should take you about an hour and a half on a good day. If you want to go earlier then you will have to add time since this it would be more in the peak traffic hours on the roads.  Once you arrive at your resort the check in process should be done in 30 minutes or less. If you are arriving before your room is ready then you will store your bags with the baggage service and head on the bus to the Magic Kingdom. If your room is ready then take your things and at least get them into your room before heading out. You might have to wait for a bus so consider that 20 minutes and then a 20 minute ride (you didn't mention your resort) to arrive at the park. So after adding all of that together on a good day you should be leaving Tampa and arriving at the gates of the Magic Kingdom in about three hours.

Good luck and will hope for a quiet day on the roads for you! Safe travels!
